On June 29, 2007, Apple released its first iPhone touchscreen that eventually led to the smartphone revolution with many players in the market.
The touchscreen interface with the internet access was the gateway to the development of apps, games, books, information – the world of Information and Entertainment was in your palm.
This led to people getting connected to the ‘virtual‘ world but, unfortunately, disconnected from the ‘real‘ world.Â
However, the launch of Apple Vision Pro on February 2, 2024, takes the game to another level ‘virtually‘. Vision Pro is labelled as a ‘spatial computer‘ where the digital world is integrated with the real world.Â

I am sure the whole experience with Apple Vision Pro would be very immersive and, no doubt, people would be more productive through it.
But could it also be the beginning of more isolation – people boxed in that device? At least with smartphone, people would disconnect from the virtual world once in a while to look around, but with Vision Pro, the virtual is merged with the real world.
What would that ensue? Well, the pictures on the social media of people with their Vision Pro is telling.
Has Apple unleashed a product with unintended consequences to be realised only later on? Will there be new rules introduced around Apple Vision Pro regarding public safety in terms of using it while driving or while in motion?
Though the concept is still at its infancy, the technology has given birth to the concept. It is only a matter of time before the concept grows and develops to its true potential.
