We lose Ourselves in Books. We Find Ourselves There Too.

Wouldn’t you agree that it is a nice feeling flipping the pages of a brand-new and smelling it?. Imagine if the information of the book could be passed in that manner? That would save us days and weeks of our time with books.

Alas, it is not so, and rightfully too. Because that would deprive us of the pleasure of going on a journey with the thoughts of the author through the pages. The turning of the first few pages is like starting a journey . We have a general idea but not all the fine details of it and it is for us to explore. Not all experiences are alike: some teaches, some entertains, some takes us on an emotional experience, some challenges our beliefs, while some gives a different perspective of life, and the list goes on….

The better part is when we are  nearing the last pages of the books knowing our journey is nearing its end. The best journeys are those that leaves a lasting imprint in our lives with lessons learned, not necessarily the one the entertains us.

I was introduced to comics at a young age, thanks to my (late) elder brother. Whatever chores were entrusted to him by mom or dad, part of it was passed down. That was how I earned the right to read the comics that he had. I believe many with elder brother would relate to that. But that was the gateway of my journey from comics to books. And it was a journey worth taking ……
