Indonesia, a country consisting of more than 17,000 islands, is a place that I have come to love for three simple reasons: place, people and food. Need I add more?

It is a wanderlust affair that made me travel through its length and breadth over several years.

The Place: From beautiful volcanic craters, to turquoise coloured water on the beach, you name it, they have it. Maybe, except for snow.

The People: Of all my travels in Southeast Asia, I find Indonesians to be very courteous, hard working and friendly (this is just based on my experiences). And I have been treated well by them. They are also very resilient considering their regular exposure to earthquakes and volcanoes.

The Food: I love their cuisine, especially the Sambal Balado (red chilli paste). But the best dish for me, hands down, would be Rendang Sapi (beef). The food is generally generous with the use of chilli.

If you travel to Indonesia and don’t get along with the locals, then something could probably be wrong with you (take that from a person who is favourably biased towards them 😊).
