Monty Python On Gender Dysphoria

The Monty Python was a popular British Comedy Troupe from the 60’s  to 80’s. Besides the TV shows, they have several movies under their belt. They were known for their satire comedy and often rubbed institutions the wrong way. This clip is  taken from their movie ‘The Life of Brian (1979)’. The character Stan (aka Loretta) played by Eric Idle talks of his identity as a female. British humour!

When the movie was released in 1979, this small conversation probably did not make much sense. But in the current context with the Gender Dysphoria issue exploding in western culture in the past few years, the conversation makes a lot of sense.

However, the momentum gained in past years is facing alarms on the use of puberty blockers among teenagers or children. The use of puberty blockers often leads to irreversible consequences.

Even the World Professional Association for Transgender Health have concerns of that, Canada being criticised for treating gender dysphoria in minors with hormones and surgery, pushback against puberty blocking to name a few.
