We all have come across or read the comic strip of Dilbert at some point of time. Dilbert, created by Scott Adams, is very popular, and enjoyed by many because of the satirical office humor.

But ever wondered how the name Dilbert was coined and by who?

The character Dilbert Groundloop first appeared in training manuals for pilots. He was created soon after the Pearl Harbor Attack during World War II.

Dilbert was a goofy character and was used in the training manuals of things pilots shouldn’t do with comical consequences of his actions.

The name Dilbert was suggested to Scott Adams by Scott’s boss Michael Goodwin

In a recent podcast, Scott Adams shared about how the iconic character got its name. The clip is taken from Scott’s podcast Episode #1745, dated May 16, 2022.
