on 24 Apr 2023, two prominent news anchors (in US) were removed:Â Tucker Carlson (from Fox News)Â and Don Lemon (from CNN).
Both represents contrasting networks and political views: Tucker and Fox News represents the Conservative viewpoint, while Don and CNN represents the liberal viewpoint.
Tucker went on and started his own show on Twitter independently.
His first show raked 117 M views within 2 weeks. I have listened to his talks and they are quite thought provoking.
Below are his 4 posts within 2 weeks, as of date, and all exceeding 1 M views.
Don Lemon, on the other hand, tweeted about his termination but did not seem to pursue alternatives for his journalism. Musk responded to his termination by suggesting him in doing his own shows on Twitter.
After seeing the viral videos of Tucker Carlson on Twitter, Musk suggested other journalists to follow suit.
Musk has often considered Twitter to be the public town square in a digital age and advocated for Free Speech.
It is interesting on how the tale of two (fired) journalist took very contrasting paths – Tucker Carlson (as of today) successfully started his show on Twitter, while Don Lemon is yet to venture out.
